The Lakewood Fire Department has 84 personnel serving an area of 5.6 square miles and a population of close to 52,000 people. In 2013, LFD responded to more than 7,000 emergency calls. The city is protected by 3 fire stations geographically placed throughout the city and a marine unit housed down at the Clifton Lagoons.

Engine Companies are responsible for putting water on the fire, and is equipped with a pump, a water tank, and hose to suppress fire. Ladder (Truck) companies are responsible for search and rescue at a fire, as well as ventilation of a burning building. The Lakewood Fire Department has a total of 10 fire companies, squads and units at our disposal – a fleet of 1 Engine, 2 Ladder/Quint Trucks, 4 ALS Ambulances, 1 Hazmat unit and a Marine unit protect the city.
