Lakewood Truck-1 and Car 2 were dispatched to reports of a wire sparking near near a building on the 15000 block of Madison Ave at approximately 20:00 hours.
Upon arrival companies found smoke pouring from the building a dry cleaner. The incident was made a working fire with an all hands response. Truck 1 forced way into the single story brick commercial buildings and advanced a hose line. Truck 1 encountered challenges with the amount of equipment and clothing in the facility. Engine 2 arrived on scene and was assigned to make entry to the rear of the building. Upon forcing the rear door engine 2 reported heavy smoke and fire to the rear of the building. Engine 2 advanced a 2nd line to the rear of the structure. Truck 1 made their way to the rear of the building and began knocking the fire down with assistance from Engine 2. Engine 3 was assigned to the roof to check for extension and ventilate if needed. The fire was quickly brought under control and companies began overhauling checking for extension. The primary and secondary search was negative and there were no injuries. Crews faced inclement weather and a difficult layout in suppressing the fire.
Mutual aid assistance from Bay Village and Fairview Park were called in to assist in all fire operations. The fire is being investigated.
