Lakewood fire companies were called to multiple reports of a structure fire 1600 block of Orchard Grove Ave. Thursday evening.
Lakewood Fire crews arrived on scene of a 2 1/2 story wood frame 2 family dwelling with a fully involved second floor which quickly spread throughout the second floor and attic. Truck 1 established a water supply and started an exterior attack on the second floor porch. Engine 2 arrived on scene and was assigned second floor fire attack. Engine 3 and Engine 2 advanced to the attic and made a knock on visible fire and ventilated. Lakewood fire companies faced a challenging home layout and high wind conditions that rapidly intensified the spread of fire. Conditions rapidly deteriorated and a master stream from Truck 1 was used to extinguish a large body of fire in the attic.
Fire was placed under control. Companies remained on scene to overhaul and check for fire extension. Mutual aid from Rocky River was called to help with fire supression.
All occupants of the 2 family dwelling made it out safe. 2 families with small children were displaced from the home. There was extensive damage to the structure. There were no injuries. The fire is under investigation.
