Lakewood fire companies were dispatched to reports of smoke and fire pouring from a building on the 15600 block of Detroit Ave. shortly after 9:00pm.
Fire companies arrived on to smoke and flames showing from the rear of a 2 story taxpayer. Truck 1 arrived first on scene and advanced a 1-3/4 hose line up the front stairs to the second floor. Truck 1 located the fire and encountered thick black smoke and high heat conditions in a second floor commercial space. Truck 1 crew extinguished the blaze and contained it to the suite of origin. Engine 3 and Engine 2 helped extend a 2-1/2 inch hose line wyed off to an 1-3/4 to the rear of the structure. Squad 2 was assigned to the roof to look for extension. The adjacent apartments were searched and evacuated as a precaution. The fire was placed under control. All Lakewood companies did extensive overhaul and salvage.
Mutual aid assistance from Rocky River and Fairview Park were called in to assist in all fire operations.The building was extensively searched, there were no victims found and no injuries. The fire is being investigated.
